In the summer of 2020, just one year after the founding of the Peaches and Sourcream Children’s Foundation (PSCF) and at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched our Summer Reading Rewards Program—virtually, out of necessity. With only $3,000 in funding, we welcomed 25 children and their families, embarking on a bold new initiative. Although we were unable to provide each participant with their own books, our commitment to empowering young readers never wavered.

By 2025, we are proud to have raised enough support to purchase more than 9,000 books, for nearly 300 children.

Our books are carefully selected not solely by reading level, but for their potential to spark rich conversations—empowering children to use their voices, build confidence, and develop decision-making skills. This approach counters the outdated notion that “children should be seen and not heard.”

“Color Our World With Reading!” 2025 Summer Reading Booklist

Listed here are our 40 colorful book selections for summer 2025, thoughtfully aligned with the American Library Association's summer reading themes. Our collection is intentionally designed to prioritize engaging, enjoyable, and easy-to-comprehend stories rather than focusing on reading levels.
