For children aged 2 to 7, we encourage parents to engage in a "picture walk" before reading each book aloud. Dear parents, as you read, please move your pointer finger across each word. This will help your child/ren follow along and understand where words begin and end. Afterward, allow your child/ren to illustrate and describe what they believe is happening in the stories. You can then transcribe their thoughts beneath each picture using age-appropriate graphic organizers provided by PSCF.
For children aged 8 to 11, before they begin writing, parents should read and discuss the book with them to assess comprehension. Once done, let them write independently. If they wish, they can also create illustrations using age-appropriate graphic organizers provided by PSCF.

Your input is invaluable in our growth process. 🌱 Please take a moment to complete the following forms:
a. Evaluation: Share your thoughts on your summer reading experience.
b. Book Request: If your child wants to select a book to add to their growing home library, please submit your request form as soon as possible. This helps us process checks and book orders efficiently.
c. The Attitude of Gratitude: Last year, we asked for your support in creating heartfelt "thank you" notes for our sponsor, Barnes & Noble Potomac Yard. It was a success, and we're making it an annual tradition. This year, we not only want to express our gratitude to Barnes & Noble but also to the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Their generous $25,000 grant allowed us to purchase over 1,300 books, t-shirts, and cover shipping and handling fees, among other essential resources to keep our program running smoothly.
d. Reviews: If you believe our program can benefit other children and their families, please help us expand by writing a review on Facebook. You can start the process here: Facebook Review
Please note that checks and books of your choice will be mailed to you upon receipt of the required items (a, b, c, and d) as listed above. Thank you for your support and participation! 📚📝
As a startup 501(c)3 non-profit with a minimum budget, your donations will provide our children with school supplies, new uniforms, books, food baskets, special programming, and a Tracey D. Ray Scholarship for educators.
Thank you for your support!
